Window Styles and Trends

Window Styles & Trends
Do you know the difference between certain types of windows? Windows come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and with that comes a different style name. Depending what room of the house you are replacing windows in, you may want to try something less traditional and more modern. Here are some examples:
Slider Windows:

Slider windows look great in kitchens. They offer multiple openings and are adjustable so you can let in as little or as much air from the outside as you would like. Sliders also tilt in for easy cleaning.
Casement Windows:

Casement windows look great in bathrooms and in rooms with decks or balconies off of them. They open from one side like a door and are typically longer vertically. Casement windows are a popular choice because they provide a clear view to the outdoors and are a great option for spots that are difficult to reach. Casements are the most efficiently operating window.
Picture Windows:

Picture windows are more traditional windows that can go anywhere in the house and brighten a room. If you want to add light to a room that doesn’t need extra ventilation, picture windows are the way to go.
Awning Windows:

You may notice a lot of people use awning windows in their basements. They are also often placed above or below other windows to add architectural interest, light and ventilation to a room. They glide open and shut with the turn of one handle. They are great for providing ventilation even when it’s raining.
Single & Double Hung Windows:

Single hung windows provide a classic look for any home. They can be raised from the bottom for ventilation.
Double hung windows are a beautiful choice for any home, from classic to contemporary. They can be raised from the bottom or lowered from the top for two levels of ventilation.
Both of these designs are often found in bedrooms and hallways and when you don’t know what you want these are the most common choice.
Bay & Bow Windows:

Bay and Bow windows brighten your living room or dining room and add a touch of class to the design of your home. These windows often create a seat or large shelf that is great for additional inter ion home decorating such as picture frames or house plants.
